Decoding Alia Bhatt’s Bridesmaid Looks for Her Best Friend’s Wedding

by Amit Kumar 20 Jul 2026

Ever since Alia Bhatt stepped into Bollywood, her ethnic wardrobe has always been the talk of the town, whether she is dressed for the Joy Awards in Riyadh in a custom Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla Ajrakh saree or in an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla hand-embroidered kurti-and-lungi set for a Diwali party. Now proving herself as a bridesmaid for her best friend’s wedding, making sure all eyes stay on her, she was spotted carrying the most stunning Indian silhouette, a saree, in the most effortless way possible, making these Alia Bhatt’s bridesmaid looks the most wanted and the dreamiest wardrobe every girl can ask for.

Let’s take a deep dive into Alia Bhatt’s A-game in ethnic styling and three striking wedding guest looks for her best friend Akansha Ranjan’s wedding. We’ll not only talk about the saree looks, but also about how her jewellery, right blouse choices balanced these contemporary silhouettes with timeless Indian craftsmanship, and how you can also derive your inspiration from these looks for your upcoming wedding season.

Alia Bhatt in Unreleased Ekaya Benaras x Ashdeen Banarasi Saree

At the heart of Alia’s wedding ensemble was an unreleased saree from the highly anticipated Ekaya x Ashdeen collaboration. Woven in Banaras using the intricate Emboss weaving technique, the bespoke purple drape beautifully united two extraordinary textile traditions. The collection reimagines the iconic Cheena Cheeni motif from the historic Parsi Gara tradition through the richness of Banarasi weaving, creating what can only be described as a modern heirloom. Inspired by the Silk Route and its cultural exchange between Persian, Chinese, and Indian influences, the saree featured charming figurative motifs depicting everyday life, while delicate fringed edges added a contemporary finish. Draped in the classic seedha pallu style, the textile itself remained the undeniable hero of the look.

A meeting of two extraordinary textile legacies, this Cheena Cheeni saree brings together the storytelling of the iconic Parsi Gara motif and the artistry of Banarasi weaving. Inspired by a 19th-century Silk Route journey, it’s a timeless heirloom reimagined for today.

Complementing the saree was a custom corset blouse in the same regal purple hue, finished with traditional frog-button detailing inspired by Oriental tang jackets. The structured silhouette added a modern edge while allowing the craftsmanship of the weave to take centre stage.

Styled by Rhea Kapoor, Alia accessorised the ensemble with Akoya Jewels' signature Polki choker, a design inspired by India's rich jewellery heritage that beautifully reflected the brand's regal aesthetic through a contemporary lens. Elegant chandelier earrings from Alok Lodha Jewels framed the look with subtle brilliance, while carefully selected rings and a gemstone-embellished brocade clutch by Meera Mahadevia completed the ensemble without overwhelming it.

Alia Bhatt's Ash-Blue Punit Balana Ensemble for the Wedding Ceremony

For the wedding ceremony itself, Alia Bhatt embraced a softer, more contemporary interpretation of Indian occasion wear in a custom Punit Balana pre-draped ash-blue tiered sari that felt refreshingly understated while remaining deeply rooted in craftsmanship.

(@punitbalanaofficial: Some garments are shaped as much by the person wearing them as the hands that make them. For Alia, we worked with silver Banarasi tissue, hand embroidery, and a marodi border finished in dry henna, keeping the silhouette easy and unforced.

Designed in luxurious crushed tissue silk, the sari featured delicate woven buttis scattered across its length; the tiered drape was elevated by a beautifully ruffled hem finished with a classic gold zari border, creating graceful movement with every step. Draped in the timeless Nivi style, the ensemble demonstrated how contemporary silhouettes can coexist beautifully with India's enduring sari traditions. The accompanying blouse added a distinctly modern touch. Crafted in the same ash-blue palette, the blouse featured elegant front and back cut-out detailing.

Alia Bhatt’s bridesmaid look was paired with delicate chain-linked stud earrings from Kalajee Jewellery, while a striking maang tikka and stacked kadas by Anmol Sandhu introduced a regal festive element. A coordinated Punit Balana potli bag completed the ensemble, reinforcing the monochromatic elegance of the look.

Radiant skin, softly blushed cheeks, and natural pink lips enhanced the freshness of the ash-blue palette, while a sleek, centre-parted bun brought structure and polish to the overall appearance. The result was a bridesmaid look that felt graceful, contemporary, and effortlessly wearable, proving once again that true style doesn't rely on excess but on impeccable craftsmanship, thoughtful styling, and timeless elegance.

Wedding Reception Look in Custom Nidhi Tambi Kejriwal

For the wedding reception, Alia Bhatt chose a look that beautifully celebrated one of India's oldest textile traditions. She stepped out in a custom Ajrakh saree by Nidhi Tambi Kejriwal, proving that heritage craftsmanship can feel just as relevant on today's red carpet as it does in centuries-old artisan workshops.

An alpha collaboration, must say! ❤️)

The bespoke drape drew inspiration from the timeless artistry of Ajrakh, the intricate block-printing tradition that continues to flourish in the Kutch region of Gujarat. While rooted in this centuries-old craft, the saree was elevated through exquisite mirror work and vibrant multicoloured resham embroidery, giving the textile remarkable depth and dimension. Delicate floral motifs, tree foliage, geometric grids, and nature-inspired patterns, hallmarks of traditional Ajrakh design, were thoughtfully woven into the composition, allowing the craftsmanship to remain the defining feature of the ensemble.

A full-sleeved blouse featuring a graceful sweetheart neckline and an open-back cut-out introduced a contemporary contrast to the heritage-inspired drape. It struck the perfect balance between tradition and modernity, allowing the handcrafted textile to command attention while keeping the overall styling refined and sophisticated.

Rather than opting for contemporary diamonds, Alia embraced antique treasures sourced from Chand Begum, known for curating historic jewellery pieces from across India. Her striking Hyderabadi chandbali earrings, adorned with rubies and uncut Polki diamonds, framed the look beautifully, while 19th-century enamelled kadas once belonging to a princely family from Jaipur added a remarkable sense of history and legacy. A delicate maang tikka and statement ring by Anmol Sandhu, paired with a black embroidered clutch from The Pink Potli, completed the ensemble with understated elegance.

Alia Bhatt’s bridesmaid look was enhanced by luminous complexion, glossy nude-pink lips, a classic black bindi, and sleek, open hair, which softened the richly detailed outfit, ensuring the spotlight remained firmly on the extraordinary textile traditions and heirloom craftsmanship that defined this unforgettable reception look.

Final Words

Alia Bhatt's bridesmaid looks weren't simply a showcase of beautiful sarees; they were a thoughtful celebration of India's extraordinary textile legacy. Across three distinct occasions, she demonstrated how bridesmaid dressing can be rooted in craftsmanship rather than excess. From the Banarasi artistry of the unreleased Ekaya x Ashdeen collaboration to the contemporary elegance of Punit Balana's pre-draped sari and the timeless beauty of Nidhi Tambi Kejriwal's Ajrakh masterpiece, every look paid tribute to India's diverse weaving traditions while embracing modern silhouettes and refined styling.

What made these ensembles truly memorable wasn't just the designer labels or exquisite jewellery. It was the intention behind every choice, heritage textiles, handcrafted details, heirloom-inspired accessories, and understated beauty that allowed Indian craftsmanship to remain the true focal point. In an era where bridal fashion often leans towards maximalism, Alia proved that thoughtful styling and authentic artistry create a far more lasting impression.

If you're planning your own bridesmaid or wedding guest wardrobe this season, let these looks inspire you to invest in timeless pieces that celebrate India's rich artisanal heritage while reflecting your personal style.
